ALABAMA: Josh McCoy: From Office to Agriculture—A Passion for Peanuts
Josh McCoy took an unexpected path into farming, transitioning from an office job to the fields of Chris Thompson Farms, where he quickly discovered a deep passion for agriculture. When his father-in-law, Chris Thompson, needed help with the business, Josh stepped in and never looked back. Initially drawn to the numbers and logistics of peanut farming, he soon found himself fully immersed in both the business and hands-on aspects of farm operations.
Now, as a key player in Chris Thompson Farms, McCoy helps manage thousands of acres across a 90-mile stretch, ensuring the production of high-quality peanuts, no matter the challenges posed by unpredictable weather. The farm produces an impressive 11,000 tons of peanuts annually, a testament to its efficiency and commitment to excellence.
McCoy takes pride in breaking stereotypes about modern farming, emphasizing that agriculture today is as much about business strategy and management as it is about working the land.
“I think sometimes the public sees farmers as getting in their truck, going to the farm, and just being dirty all day,” he said. “But that’s not the truth anymore. There’s so much paperwork and business decisions that go into it.”
McCoy, our Alabama Alternate, is a dedicated family man, sharing his love for peanuts and farming with his wife, Savannah, and their four children; Fields, Sutton, Shep, and their youngest, Anne Mills.
As an Alabama alternate member of the National Peanut Board, McCoy is eager to represent and advocate for peanut growers, bringing fresh perspectives to the industry.
“I am very proud to be a farmer,” he said. “I feel like I’m doing something that helps make the world go round, helping put food on somebody’s table or clothing somebody’s back.”
With a dedication to innovation and sustainability, McCoy is not only continuing a farming legacy but also shaping the future of peanut production.
ARKANSAS - Allen Donner: A Leader in Arkansas Peanut Farming
Allen Donner of Manila, Arkansas, is a dedicated farmer and advocate for agriculture, proudly representing his state as the reappointed alternate member of the National Peanut Board. As the owner and operator of Blackwater Farms Partnership, Donner grows high oleic runner peanuts, cotton, soybeans, and corn alongside his son, Heath, marking the fourth and fifth generations of farmers in their family. In 2023, Blackwater Farms won the farm family of the year for Mississippi county and also won the district title for the northeast region of the state. His deep-rooted passion for farming is complemented by his education in agronomy at the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University.
A respected leader in the agricultural community, Donner serves as the president of three key organizations: the Arkansas Peanut Growers Association, Cotton Growers Gin (where he has contributed for over 27 years), and the NE Arkansas Area Conservation District. His extensive service also includes past roles on the Mississippi County Conservation District Board, Mississippi County Farm Bureau, and as an advisory committee member for Staplcotn Coop. Beyond agriculture, Donner has been a dedicated community servant, including 15 years on the Manila Public Schools Board of Education (five of those as president) and as a deacon at Manila First Baptist Church.
Donner and his wife, Debbie, a retired schoolteacher, have built a strong family legacy with their three grown children—Heath (Melissa), Adam, and Katie (Evans) (Kyle)—and eight beloved grandchildren. When he’s not on the farm, Donner enjoys water sports, particularly skiing and wakeboarding on the nearby lake.
Excited about the future of peanut farming in Arkansas, Donner is eager to help shape its growth.
“Arkansas is one of the newest states to grow peanuts, and our first peanut buying point is expected to open early next year,” he said. As a member of the National Peanut Board, he is committed to gaining a broader understanding of the industry. “I want to learn more about the peanut industry as a whole, to understand how the Board benefits farmers, and to be able to bring that back to the growers at home.”
With his leadership and dedication, Donner continues to be a driving force in Arkansas agriculture, ensuring a bright future for peanut farmers in the state and beyond.

FLORIDA – Scott Walker: A Legacy of Innovation and Dedication to Agriculture
Scott Walker is a fourth-generation farmer and the proud manager of day-to-day operations of Walker Farms in Northwest Florida, where he works alongside his wife, Alysa, his parents, and his brother. Together, they grow cotton and runner peanuts, with a deep commitment to continuing the legacy of hard work and innovation in farming.
Walker's path to full-time farming began after he graduated from high school and earned a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. His passion for agriculture was always strong, and after college, he worked for four years in precision agriculture, where he gained valuable experience installing and servicing GPS-guided autopilots and application control units on farm equipment. This exposure to cutting-edge technology shaped his approach to farming and helped him bring new innovations to Walker Farms.
For the past 12 years, Walker has farmed full-time, growing both the operation and his family. During this time, he met and married Alysa, and together, they have two daughters. Walker is deeply invested in both his family and the farm, blending tradition with modern practices to ensure a bright future for the next generation.
One of Walker's key interests is the peanut allergy research supported by the National Peanut Board, which he has followed closely over the years. Now, as an alternate member of the board, he is excited to be part of the ongoing efforts to advance peanut research and support breakthroughs that can change the lives of those affected by peanut allergies.
Walker's journey as a farmer, innovator, and advocate for the peanut industry reflects his passion for both agriculture and the people who rely on it. He is proud to continue his family’s farming legacy and looks forward to making a lasting impact on the peanut industry through his work with the National Peanut Board.
GEORGIA - Wesley Webb: A Legacy of Excellence in Peanut Farming
Wesley Webb is a dedicated 5th-generation farmer and a proud member of Webb Farms in Calhoun County, Georgia. As he approaches his 30th crop in 2025, Webb continues to cultivate a legacy built on hard work, passion, and a commitment to quality. Webb Farms specializes in growing runner peanuts, primarily for the peanut butter and candy markets, along with corn and cotton, spanning approximately 6,000 acres. Webb works side by side with his brother, Jimmy Webb, and his uncle, Bob McLendon, continuing the family’s rich agricultural tradition.
Webb holds a college degree in Human Resources from Kennesaw State College, but his true calling has always been in farming. Over the years, he has become a highly respected leader in the agricultural community, serving in numerous influential roles, including as a past commodity committee member for the Georgia Farm Bureau, a 9-year member and 6-year chairman of the Calhoun County FSA Committee, and as a member of the Georgia Peanut Commission Advisory Committee. He has also served as president of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau Board and represented Georgia as an alternate on the National Peanut Board.
In addition to his farming achievements, Webb is actively involved in his community, serving as a member of First Methodist Church in Albany, Georgia. While farming is his primary focus, Webb also owns rental property in Florida.
In his free time, Webb loves spending time with his grandkids, watching them grow and learn, and enjoys traveling to new places and exploring different cuisines. He has a deep interest in history, particularly artifacts from Native American cultures, which fuels his curiosity and passion for learning.
As he embarks on his second term with the National Peanut Board, Webb is driven by a desire to continue advancing research, education, and the promotion of a safe, reliable, and affordable food supply for consumers. His goal is to ensure that future generations can prosper while preserving the environment and maintaining the integrity of the farming way of life. Webb is excited to share his experiences with fellow farmers across the nation and looks forward to learning from them as they work together to face the challenges of modern agriculture.
MISSISSIPPI – Alan Atkins: A Dedicated Leader in Mississippi Peanut Farming
Alan Atkins serves as the Mississippi Alternate Board Member for the National Peanut Board, bringing years of experience and a deep passion for peanut farming to the role. As a dedicated grower, Atkins has been instrumental in advancing peanut production in Mississippi, balancing time-honored farming traditions with innovative practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.
With a strong background in agriculture, Atkins understands the challenges and opportunities that peanut farmers face. His hands-on approach and commitment to excellence have earned him a respected place among his peers and within the industry. He actively collaborates with agricultural organizations, working to ensure that Mississippi peanut growers have access to the best resources, research, and market opportunities.

Growing up in a farming community, Ward developed a passion for the industry early on and has dedicated her career to advancing sustainable and innovative farming practices.
Ward plays a vital role in promoting the peanut industry, working alongside local and national organizations to ensure that North Carolina peanut growers have the resources they need to thrive. She is a strong advocate for agricultural research, education, and market development, helping to expand opportunities for peanut farmers while increasing consumer awareness of peanuts’ nutritional benefits.
Her leadership and dedication to the farming community make her an influential voice for North Carolina peanut producers. By serving on the National Peanut Board, Ward is excited to contribute to industry-wide initiatives that enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability for peanut growers.

OKLAHOMA – Les Crall: A Lifetime of Leadership in Agriculture and Education
Les Crall of Weatherford, Oklahoma, is a dedicated peanut farmer, industry leader and educator who brings decades of experience to his role as the Oklahoma Alternate Board Member for the National Peanut Board. With a lifelong commitment to peanut farming, Crall has previously served as the Oklahoma Board Member and was the 2022 chairman of the National Peanut Board. He continues to shape the industry as chairman of the Oklahoma Peanut Commission and as a second-term member of the Peanut Standards Board.
Beyond agriculture, Crall has an extensive academic and legal background. He holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting, a Master of Business Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. As a faculty member at SWOSU for 29 years, he served as associate dean of the Everett Dobson School of Business & Technology, earning accolades such as the SWOSU Alumni Association Emeritus Award in 2018 and induction into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2022.
Crall and his wife, Laurie, have one daughter (Carlie Roper, and husband Greg of Dallas Texas). The Cralls operate a diversified farming operation growing peanuts, corn, cotton, wheat, and hay, along with maintaining a cow/calf operation. He has also been an active leader in his community, serving as past president of both the Weatherford Rotary Club and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford, Crall enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Crall has retired after nearly three decade as the public address announcer for Southwestern Oklahoma State University basketball teams. He still serves as a radio commentator for the university football team and co-hosts a Wednesday morning talk radio show. Reflecting on his service to the peanut industry, he shares:

SOUTH CAROLINA – Doug Jarrell: A Passion for Farming and the Future of Peanuts
Doug Jarrell of Estill, South Carolina, is the newly appointed alternate board member for the National Peanut Board, bringing a deep-rooted passion for agriculture and family farming to the role. As the owner and operator of Doug Jarrell Farms, he worked closely alongside his father, growing runner peanuts, cotton, and corn. Having grown up on the farm, Jarrell officially began farming on his own in 2003 and has been dedicated to advancing South Carolina agriculture ever since.
Beyond the farm, Jarrell is actively involved in agricultural leadership. He serves as an alternate board member for Cotton Inc., is a board member for the Hampton County Soil and Water Conservation District and has held various leadership roles with the Farm Bureau County Board, including past president and vice president. His commitment to supporting the next generation of farmers was evident in his time as a South Carolina Young Farmer and Rancher Committee board member.
Faith and family are at the heart of Jarrell’s life. He is actively involved at Nixville Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School director and currently teaching a youth class. He has three children: Brittany, Lockwood and Emerson. His daughter, Brittany, graduated with an agribusiness degree from Ogeechee Technical College and has joined the family farm full-time, continuing their agricultural legacy.
As he steps into his role with the National Peanut Board, Jarrell is eager to contribute to the industry’s growth and collaboration.
“I’m excited to learn what the Board does and help promote peanuts. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, networking, and learning how farmers grow peanuts in other areas,” he said.
When he’s not in the fields, Jarrell enjoys spending quality time with his family on the water, whether boating, tubing or skiing on the river or at the lake.
TEXAS – Mason Becker: Cultivating Excellence in Texas Agriculture
Mason Becker is the owner and operator of 4MB Farms in Terry County, Texas, where he specializes in growing all four types of peanuts—Valencia, Runner, Spanish, and Virginia—alongside cotton, wheat, and milo. With 16 years of farming experience, Mason carries forward a proud third-generation farming legacy, focusing on producing high-quality crops to meet the needs of both domestic and international markets.
A graduate of the TCU Ranch Management Program, Becker also studied Animal Science at Texas Tech University. His education, combined with his deep roots in agriculture, has equipped him to innovate and thrive in the farming industry.
Becker is a dedicated leader in his community and agriculture. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Brownfield Farmers Coop, Western Peanut Growers, the Southwest Council of Agribusiness, and the Wellman-Union Athletic Booster Club. An active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield, he also has a history of leadership with the Terry County Coop Gin, Terry County Livestock Association, Terry County Farm Bureau, and West Texas Young Farmers Association.
When he's not working on the farm or engaging in community service, Becker enjoys cooking, hunting, and shooting sports. He cherishes time with his wife, Megan, and their two young sons, Madden and Macall, sharing a love for family and the rural Texas lifestyle.
As an alternate member of the National Peanut Board, Becker is passionate about advancing the peanut industry through innovation, advocacy, and collaboration. He looks forward to working with fellow farmers and stakeholders to ensure a bright future for peanut farming across the country.
VIRGINIA – Richard Williams: A Dedicated Advocate for Virginia Peanuts
Richard Williams of Drewryville, Virginia, proudly serves as the newly appointed Virginia alternate board member for the National Peanut Board. A lifelong farmer, Williams owns and operates his family farm, where he grows Virginia-type peanuts, cotton, corn, wheat, and soybeans. His deep connection to agriculture has been a guiding force throughout his life, and he remains committed to advancing the peanut industry for future generations.
Williams is actively involved in the agricultural community, serving as a board member for the Virginia Peanut Growers Association. His leadership extends beyond peanuts, as he has also been engaged with local conservation efforts and farm organizations that support the sustainability and economic growth of Virginia agriculture.
Family is at the core of Williams’ farming operation, and he takes great pride in passing down his knowledge and values to the next generation. He and his wife, Mary, have built a strong family rooted in hard work and dedication to their land.
As he takes on his new role with the National Peanut Board, Williams is eager to represent Virginia peanut farmers and help promote the industry on a larger scale. He looks forward to collaborating with fellow growers across the country to share insights, innovations, and best practices that will strengthen the peanut industry.
